FAQ - Bioniq® Repair-Toothpaste Gum Protection

The active ingredient in both Bioniq® Repair-Toothpaste and Bioniq® Repair-Toothpaste Gum Protection is 20% artificial enamel. The use of hydroxyapatite in Bioniq® Toothpastes has a positive effect on the health of the teeth and gums. These effects include the formation of a biomimetic protective film around the teeth and the prevention of tooth sensitivity.

In addition to the active ingredient hydroxyapatite, Bioniq® Repair-Toothpaste Gum Protection contains two further active ingredients hat work to protect against gum problems: the natural antimicrobial active substance lactoferrin and the proven biologically active substance hyaluronic acid.

Lactoferrin is a protein which is naturally present in human saliva and in other body fluids. Lactoferrin has a natural antimicrobial action that removes the iron which is harmful bacteria need to survive. Lactoferrin counteracts many microorganisms that can lead to problems with the teeth and gums.

Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide of natural origin. It is frequently used in cosmetics and helps to maintain healthy, moist gums.

Together, the active ingredients lactoferrin and hyaluronic acid in Bioniq® Repair-Toothpaste Gum Protection and Bioniq® Repair Tooth-Milk actively promote gum health.

The lactoferrin used in Bioniq® Repair-Toothpaste Gum Protection is a natural anti-microbial active ingredient obtained from dairy milk. Consequently, the toothpaste is not suitable for vegans. If you're looking for a vegan toothpaste, then we recommend the classic Bioniq® Repair-Toothpaste.

Animal testing has not been used in the development of our products. A general ban on the use of animal testing for cosmetics has been enacted by law (Cosmetics Ordinance and EU Cosmetics Directive) for a number of years now.

All Bioniq® Toothpastes have a mild formula and are generally very well tolerated. In some homeopathic treatments/therapies, flavorings in food/dental care products (such as menthol) should generally be avoided. Bioniq® Toothpastes, like most toothpastes on the market, contain an aroma containing menthol, which provides a pleasant feeling of freshness. If you have any questions as to whether menthol or any of the other ingredients should be avoided during homeopathic treatment, please contact your doctor or alternative practitioner.

As all Bioniq® products are based on the principle of biomimetics, we never use harmful or questionable ingredients. Consequently, Bioniq® Repair-Toothpaste Gum Protection contains zero microplastics or nanoplastics. Our toothpastes do not contain tiny plastic beads made of polyethylene, otherwise known as microbeads, as abrasive particles. We only use mineral-based abrasives (silica and hydrated silica).

No Bioniq® product contains titanium dioxide.

All Bioniq® Toothpastes are suitable for everyday use even for sensitive teeth.

All Toothpastes from Bioniq® have an extremely gentle formulation. This means they can also be used if a patient has implants and in the case of fixed or removable dentures. As well as hydroxyapatite, the main active ingredient, Bioniq® Repair-Toothpastes also contain cleansing substances and mild surfactants. Gentle abrasive particles are also used to avoid damaging implants, crowns or fillings.

We recommend use for children aged 6 and over, as some of our toothpastes have a minty flavour which is often unsuitable for children. We recommend our Kinder Karex toothpaste for children. This has been specially developed for this age group and also contains the natural active ingredient hydroxyapatite.
